Lucifer was used in the Latin Vulgate and in the King James translation of Isaiah 14:12 because of translation problems, and the name Lucifer is not in the original Hebrew Isaiah. The OT uses Lucifer in its translation simply as an adjective for the morning star helel helel rather than as a name. In later legends, this passage usually refers to Lucifer before he was expelled from heaven. With the public availability and popularity of the Hebrew Bible, misconceptions such as these have been thoroughly exposed and debunked.
